Refining your Walk with Christ
This week is Spiritual Emphasis week at my school, and we have a speaker, Brent Gambrell, talking to us. In my opinion, he is the best speaker we have ever had because he has a great sense of humor and he's real. One thing that he said that I keep thinking about is how refining gold and silver can relate to you walk with Christ. When he first said this I was confused, but once he explained it, it made sense to me. The first step of refining is to mine. Mining relates because it is like when you are trying to find your identity, and you finally find it. The second step is to clean. Cleaning relates because it is like when you pray for the first time and you ask for forgiveness of your sins. The third step is to heat. Heating relates because this is showing how God heats things up in your life to tempt you. When they add lead, that is relating to when you hang out with the wrong people, and they are pulling you away from your faith. The next step is to scrape away all of the crud from the clean gold or silver. That relates to when we remove the bad things from our life. The last step is to mold. Molding relates because after you have asked for forgiveness and you are pure, and God molds you into his own image. This is a great comparison and I will never forget this.
