Goals for This School Year

This school year, my freshman year, I have decided to make some goals to go by.  One of the most important ones to me is to become closer to God, and a way for me to do so is to pray way more often than I usually do.  I know that I need to at least pray as much as I want or can for seven days, so that it can become a habit.  Another important goal for me is to keep my GPA high so that I can have more choices for college.  I also want to try to turn in as many assignments as possible.  I have lots of friends, but I want to try and make more friends.

How Giving Birth Contrasts to The Giver

In English class we have been reading a book named The Giver, I was assigned to make a blog to compare the theme or a symbol in the book to something.  I chose to compare the theme to that of a mother giving birth.  The theme in The Giver was "There is no memory without pain, and there is no pain without memory."  These both relate because when a mother has a baby there is lots of pain, but in the end it was way worth it.  In The Giver Jonas wants to have the memories, but he also doesn't like the pain.  The only way for Jonas to get the memories and have a better life is for him to go through the pain.  In the end it was worth it for him to get the memories.  In this picture, it shows how a mother loves a child.
